The last Government announced that it would deliver a new station at Tavistock, reopening 5 miles of track between Tavistock and Bere Alston.
Along with restoring the line, originally cut by Beeching in the 1960s, the scheme also included a new station at Tavistock.
Unfortunately, the new government has paused work on the scheme while it reviews all infrastructure projects.
The project is an opportunity to link Tavistock with the rest of the South‑west, reducing pressure on local roads and tackling climate change.
But the project is dependent on funding for an updated business case for the project.
It’s essential that the Tavistock railway is not shunted into a siding.
