Britan Remade responds to December house price stats from Halifax

Responding to the slight fall in house prices reported by Halifax, Sam Richards CEO of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:

“Despite the slight fall in house prices millions of Britons are being mercilessly priced out of decent housing, condemned to sky-high rents or crippling mortgages - especially in London.

“Britain’s failure to build the homes we need locks people out of thriving cities, starves young people of opportunity, and sabotages the economy. This government was elected on a promise to deliver growth and they put building 1.5 million homes by the next election at the centre of this pledge, but are bungling delivery. Their latest proposed changes to planning policy are bold but it remains to be seen if they can hold their nerve on implementing them.

“If ministers back down, they will condemn another generation to housing hell through sheer political failure.”
