Responding to the Climate Change Committee’s seventh carbon budget report Sam Richards, CEO of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:
“Climate change is one of the greatest long-term threats to our prosperity. Tackling it head on is good for households, good for individuals and good for Britain.
“The seventh carbon budget puts electrification at the heart of Britain’s decarbonisation plans, and that means we need to build a lot more clean energy. This will require wholesale planning reform.
“The Government must now ensure that its forthcoming planning bill is fit for purpose, so we can go further and faster in building the clean infrastructure the country needs. This means changing the way environmental rules work to make sure that there can be no more bat tunnels and no more fish discos delaying vital clean infrastructure projects.”
