Responding to the Prime Minister backing cuts to red tape that hold back nuclear power projects, Sam Richards, CEO of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:
“The Prime Minister has rightly made clear that his Government accepts the recommendations of the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce that would cut costs and accelerate the building of new nuclear stations in Britain. This is welcome, but questions remain whether all 47 recommendations will be implemented.
“The Prime Minister could not have been clearer on the need to slash the red tape that makes Britain the most expensive place in the world to build new nuclear. Now his ministers must get on and implement the changes that are needed as quickly as possible.
“For years ministers have had the right rhetoric but bottled the implementation - paying lip service to the ‘build, baby, build’ mantra. This simply cannot continue. With growth downgraded for the next four years, every lever must be pulled if we are ever going to turn the economy around.”
