Responding to the latest Climate Change Committee report, Sam Richards, CEO of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:
"The Climate Change Committee is right: electricity bills must come down so that families can afford to switch to clean technology. But that won’t happen unless we fix our outdated energy system.
“Right now, the whole country pays the same price for energy, even where cheap wind and solar is going to waste. This drives up bills and holds back investment.
“Local pricing would change that. It would make better use of the grid, reduce waste, and slash energy bills. Crucially bills would fall not just in areas that generate a lot of clean energy, but across the whole country.
“If the Government is serious about cutting energy bills, ministers should urgently make the switch to local pricing.”
