Responding to the Chancellor's Spring Statement Sam Richards, CEO of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:
“Our eye-watering debt payments and further cuts to public spending are a direct consequence of the fact that our economy simply isn't growing fast enough.
“The Office of Budget Responsibility has shown, for the first time, the huge economic boost that Britain could enjoy if we make it quicker and easier to build, with Treasury coffers swollen by billions if Britain gets building again.
“It’s now clearer than ever that the real route to a better, stronger economy powered by sustainable and meaningful growth can only be delivered by getting Britain building the homes, infrastructure, and clean sources of energy the country needs.
“The Planning and Infrastructure Bill is a step forward in delivering the radical changes to the planning system that will make it quicker and easier to build, but the government must not falter and allow the Bill to be watered-down in the face of opposition from NIMBYs and vested interests.
“Britain needs to get building.”
