Responding to Sir Keir Starmer’s ‘5 missions’ speech, Sam Richards, founder and Campaign Director for pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:
“Today Sir Keir Starmer set out a bold vision for ‘Zero-carbon British electricity by 2030’ transforming Britain, as he said, into a clean energy superpower - a move that would deliver cheaper bills and energy security.
“Delivering a 100% clean energy grid is an admirable ambition from the Labour Leader, but this cannot be delivered without overhauling the planning system to remove the blockages that hold back major clean energy infrastructure projects time and time again.
“In a few weeks’ time Britain Remade will be publishing a roadmap for Britain to be energy independent by 2030. At the heart of this will be planning reforms that will unleash the full potential of clean energy in Britain, bring down bills, cut our reliance on foreign gas and help deliver the thousands of jobs Sir Keir says he wants to see created.”
