Britain Remade responds to Scottish Conservatives new energy policy

Responding to the Scottish Conservatives new energy policy, Sam Richards, CEO of Britain Remade, said:

"It’s good to see the Scottish Conservatives backing new nuclear as part of a serious response to the energy crisis. But their proposed policy to allow legal aid funds to be used so NIMBYs and vested interests can challenge planning decisions will make it even harder and more expensive to deliver the clean energy infrastructure we urgently need.

“Expanding legal aid to support challenges against energy projects – including new nuclear, grid upgrades and renewables – will drive up costs, delay vital investment, and undermine efforts to cut bills and emissions. If we want to power Scotland with cheaper, cleaner energy, we should be making it easier to build, not harder."
