Tell the Government: Cool Britannia. Let us have home air con.
Britain is getting hotter, with more heatwaves every summer. But it’s still far too hard to install air conditioning in our homes.
The old arguments against air con - “we don’t need it” and “it’s bad for the environment” - don’t make sense anymore. They’re just hot air.
Summer’s never been hotter. Electricity has never been cleaner. It’s time to ditch the anti–air con rules, written for a world where summer was 25 degrees and our electricity was coal powered.
All over the world, air-to-air heat pumps keep homes warm in winter and cool in summer. Brits deserve the same comfort.
We’re calling on the Government to make these changes:
-
Allow all new homes to include air conditioning
-
Stop excluding systems that can cool and heat our homes from government grant schemes
-
Change home energy efficiency rules so people aren’t punished for installing the latest tech
