Dual the A1

Every day, 34,000 vehicles drive along the A1 between Morpeth and Ellingham.

It’s one of the only sections of the A1 that isn’t dualled, causing regular traffic chaos and economic pain for people and local businesses in the area.

There have been plans to widen the A1 for years. Dualling it would slash congestion and journey times, while boosting growth and unlocking much needed jobs.

Yet since October 2021 we have been waiting for the Government to give the go ahead to this critical infrastructure project.

The Prime Minister recently announced that the Government are committed to the project, but they have still not granted it planning permission. They’ve now promised to make a decision on the project by 5 June 2024.

Join our campaign and tell the Government that we can’t afford for them to dither and delay any more. Let’s get the A1 in Northumberland dualled!
