Last year, the Government announced that it would deliver a new station at Tavistock, reopening 5 miles of track between Tavistock and Bere Alston.

Along with restoring the line, originally cut by Beeching in the 1960s, the scheme also includes a new station at Tavistock.

The project is an opportunity to link Tavistock with the rest of the South-west, reducing pressure on local roads and tackling climate change.

But the project is dependent on the Government accepting an updated business case for the project later this year.

It’s essential that the Tavistock railway is not shunted into a siding.
