Britain Remade backs planned changes to Judicial Review rules for major infrastructure projects

Responding to government plans to reform Judicial Review rules for major infrastructure projects Sam Richards, CEO of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:

“Time and time again major infrastructure schemes up and down the country are hit with time wasting legal challenges. Not only does this mean it takes longer to build the new roads, pylons, wind turbines, new nuclear and data centres our economy needs, it also adds huge costs making projects even more expensive and Britain poorer.

“If we are to unblock the planning system, reduce the cost of building the infrastructure we need and slash the time it takes to build in Britain. That means it’s essential that the rules governing how Judicial Review works are updated.

“The Prime Minister accepting the recommendations, in full, of the Banner Review is a critical step in achieving this and is incredibly welcome news. To turbocharge our economy we simply cannot have growth boosting projects tied-up in legal challenges year after year.”
