Statement on coal fired power stations been asked to warm up

Commenting on the news that National Grid ESO has asked for four out of five coal-fired power plants to warm up in case they are needed due to the plummeting temperatures, Sam Richards, founder and campaign director of pro-growth campaign group Britain Remade, said:

“If there was ever a clearer sign that government needs to clear away the planning and regulatory hurdles that stand in the way of getting more domestic clean energy online as quickly as possible, this is it. The Prime Minister should start by lifting the ban on the cheapest form of energy we have – onshore wind - so that we can crack on and deliver the clean, secure and cheap energy everyone wants. In the process tens of thousands of good-quality well paid jobs will be created right across the UK.”
