Britain Remade responds to Sam Richards appointment to lead independent review

Responding to his appointment to lead a Government review of statutory consultees, Sam Richards, founder and campaign director for Britain Remade, said:

“From building the new sources of clean energy we need to cut energy bills, delivering the labs our scientists need to discover the next life-saving medical breakthrough or providing the transport systems needed to connect communities, our outdated planning system is holding Britain back.

“For the last year Britain Remade has been campaigning across the country to get Britain building again, and we’ve been developing the ideas that can make this possible. Dropping the ban on new onshore wind farms in England; slashing the time it takes offshore wind to get planning permission; speeding up the building of new nuclear and building the green roads that will help people go electric.

“If we want the 21st century infrastructure communities are crying out for then we need a 21st century planning system, and as part of this review I will leave no stone unturned.”
